The Orthodox church was a functioning place of worship situated in a very busy area of Edinburgh where both pedestrian and traffic had to be considered throughout our works to avoid unnecessary disruption to both the building user and surrounding areas.  The works comprised of external fabric repairs and involved the complete stripping and reslating of the roof in existing and second-hand sourced Scotch slate including the renewal of all the slate flashings and associated finishes. The lead flashing details were extremely ornate in areas and required existing details to be replicated. Joiner work repairs were carried out to the roof structure as well as rooflights. All cast iron goods were repaired/renewed as required and painter work of all external surfaces on completion.  All the stonework to the elevations were repointed and a comprehensive replacement of the existing defective stones was carried out including extensive carving work to form the ornate stone detailing including crosses and a functioning stone clock.

Aberlady Church was an extensive external envelope conservation and renovation contract which was carried out whilst the church was fully functional, and all works coordinated to suit. Complete stripping and reslating of all Scotch slated surfaces including supply of slates to match, renewal of all lead flashings, blacksmith work to finial, complete repointing of all elevations as well as identified stone replacement to the areas required and renewal/refurbishment of all cast iron rainwater goods.
